SEER
SEER is the seasonal energy efficiency ratio: how much cooling an air conditioner delivers on average per kWh of electricity over the cooling season.
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) is a seasonal cooling efficiency figure calculated under EN 14825. It reflects how the unit performs over the whole summer – not only on the hottest days but also on average days when the air conditioner runs at part load.
The higher the SEER, the less electricity is used for cooling. The SEER value determines the unit’s cooling energy class (e.g. A++ or A+++).
- In Lithuania the cooling season is shorter than the heating season, so if the unit will also heat, SCOP is just as important.
- A high SEER usually comes from an inverter compressor and efficient heat exchangers – quiet low-speed operation is an extra benefit in a bedroom.
- An oversized unit cycles on and off frequently, so real efficiency can be lower than on the label.
We select a Mitsubishi Electric air conditioner according to the room load, and compare SEER and SCOP only among models of the right capacity. You can start with our air conditioner planner.
