State support for heat pumps in Lithuania: what to know before you apply

Lithuania periodically opens calls for residents to replace old boilers with renewable energy equipment, including heat pumps. We explain the general principles and where to check the current conditions.

One of the questions we hear most often from homeowners is whether state support is available for a heat pump. The short answer: support measures exist in Lithuania, but their conditions, deadlines and funding levels change from one call to the next. In this article we therefore give only general, verifiable principles and always recommend checking the specific conditions in official sources.

Who administers the support

In recent years the call for residents to replace inefficient boilers with equipment using renewable energy has been announced by the Lithuanian Energy Agency (LEA), with the funding conditions approved by the Ministry of Energy. Earlier similar calls were administered by the Environmental Projects Management Agency (APVA), which continues to run other environmental and climate measures. Before applying, check which institution has announced the call you are interested in and follow only the conditions it has published.

Which heat pumps are typically covered

For example, in the LEA call announced in August 2026, as reported by LRT, eligible equipment included ground-to-water, water-to-water, air-to-water and air-to-air heat pumps, as well as biofuel boilers of a certain class. The same report stated that support does not apply to newly built houses or to homes that previously had no heating device. Each call may set its own equipment requirements, such as an energy efficiency class, so they must be checked against the specific call.

General principles that often recur

  • The application is submitted by the owner of the home, and support is linked to replacing an existing heating device.
  • Calls state the date from which installed equipment can be funded.
  • Documents proving purchase and installation of the equipment are required, so keep invoices, contracts and equipment data.
  • Applications are assessed according to the rules of the call, and funds are allocated while they last.

How we can help

We do not decide on support and cannot guarantee it – that is up to the administering institution. But we can help with what depends on us: choosing a MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC heat pump that suits your home, such as an ECODAN air-to-water system or a GEODAN ground source heat pump, providing the technical equipment data an application may require, and documenting the work clearly.

What to do now

First visit the LEA website and review the open calls and their conditions. At the same time, assess which system suits your home: try the heat pump sizing tool and the heating cost scenario. You can read more about choosing a solution in the article gas boiler or heat pump.

When you are ready, send a project request – we will prepare a quotation with full information about the proposed equipment so that you can decide on the basis of clear data.
