Split system

A split system is an air conditioner or heat pump made up of one outdoor and one indoor unit connected by refrigerant piping.

In a split system the compressor and noisiest components are in the outdoor unit, while a quiet indoor unit stays in the room. The two units are connected by refrigerant pipes, an electric cable and a condensate drain.

  • Each room has its own outdoor and indoor unit, so each system works independently.
  • Sizing is simpler because the system serves one room or zone.
  • Indoor units can be wall-mounted, cassette, ducted or floor-standing.
  • When there are many rooms, several outdoor units may appear on the façade – then Multi Split is worth considering.

An inverter split system is the most common solution for an apartment, an office or one zone of a house: it both cools and heats efficiently. Mitsubishi Electric offers split systems from compact units for a bedroom to more powerful ones for spacious living rooms. The air-conditioner planner calculates the preliminary capacity for each room, and our specialists refine the location and piping route during the site visit.
