Inverter
An inverter is electronic compressor control that varies the compressor speed smoothly so the output matches the actual demand.
An inverter changes the supply frequency of the compressor motor, so the compressor can run not just “on / off” but at any intermediate speed. It is the basis of modern air conditioners and heat pumps.
What it means for you:
- Stable temperature – once the set point is reached, the unit does not stop but slows down and holds it without large swings.
- Lower running costs – for most of the season the unit runs at part load, where efficiency is highest.
- Quieter operation and lower starting currents.
- Longer service life – fewer starts and stops, lower mechanical and thermal stress on the compressor.
- Faster warm-up – after switching on, the unit can briefly run at higher output and reach the set temperature sooner.
The capacity of an inverter unit is stated as a range (min – rated – max). When selecting, the minimum output should be low enough for the mild season and the maximum sufficient for the coldest days. All Mitsubishi Electric air-to-air and air-to-water heat pumps we offer are inverter-driven, and our specialist confirms the right size.
