VRF (City Multi)

VRF is a variable refrigerant flow system in which one or more outdoor units serve many indoor units in a larger building.

VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) is a commercial heating and cooling system in which the amount of refrigerant delivered to each indoor unit is modulated to actual demand. Mitsubishi Electric markets these systems as City Multi.

  • Suits offices, hotels, schools, retail and healthcare buildings – wherever many rooms need different modes.
  • Heat-recovery (R2) versions can heat some rooms and cool others at the same time, moving heat within the building.
  • The system is controlled centrally and can be integrated into building management systems.
  • Pipe lengths, branch boxes and refrigerant charge are calculated in the design; rooms with a large refrigerant quantity are subject to additional safety requirements.

VRF systems are always designed individually: the design is prepared by a certified designer, and we organise the design and equipment selection together with you. We assess the building’s use, heating and cooling loads and operating needs and provide a specific equipment specification.
