Air duct
An air duct is a pipe or channel that carries supply and extract air in a ventilation or air conditioning system.
Ducts are the “blood vessels” of a ventilation system. They can be round or rectangular, made of galvanised steel, flexible, or plastic distribution system pipes. Whether a heat recovery unit runs quietly and efficiently depends largely on the duct layout.
What we pay attention to in the design:
- Diameter and air velocity – undersized ducts increase noise and fan energy use.
- Route length and bends – every bend adds resistance, so the route is kept as short as possible.
- Insulation – ducts in cold zones (e.g. the loft) and outdoor/exhaust air ducts are insulated to prevent condensation and losses.
- Silencers between the unit and living rooms.
- Access openings for cleaning and maintenance.
In a renovated house or apartment the hardest part is often where to hide the ducts. We solve this together with you: suspended ceilings, recesses, wardrobes. Our specialists select the Mitsubishi Electric Lossnay unit and the duct system as a single whole.
