Leak check
A leak check is an inspection of the refrigerant circuit by a specialist to confirm that the system is not leaking.
A leak check is carried out when the system is installed and later during operation. During installation the circuit is tested before it is charged with refrigerant; in a working system a check is needed if a leak is suspected, or at the intervals set by law depending on the refrigerant charge and type.
Signs that it is worth calling a specialist:
- the system heats or cools less than before;
- unusual frost or oil marks appear on joints or outdoor unit pipes;
- the controller shows an error code.
The refrigerant circuit is a pressurised system, so checks, pressure tests or topping up refrigerant must never be done yourself – it is dangerous and under EU F-gas rules is reserved for qualified, certified specialists. Simply “topping up the gas” without finding the leak is not a solution.
If you notice any of these signs, submit a service request – our specialists will assess the system condition and propose the next steps.
