F-gas certificate
An F-gas certificate is the qualification document that EU law requires from people working on refrigerant circuits containing fluorinated greenhouse gases.
Most air conditioners and heat pumps use fluorinated refrigerants (e.g. R32). The EU F-gas Regulation requires that installation, maintenance, repair, leak checking and refrigerant recovery on these systems is carried out only by individuals holding the appropriate certificate, and that companies hold the required certification.
Why this matters to you as an owner:
- refrigerant leaks reduce system efficiency and harm the environment;
- improper work on the circuit can lead to faults and loss of manufacturer commitments;
- in certain cases the law requires the work and checks to be documented.
We recommend always asking the installer whether work on the refrigerant circuit will be done by a certified technician, and requesting a document confirming this. Natural refrigerants such as R290 fall outside the F-gas Regulation, yet they too must be handled only by suitably trained specialists.
If you have questions about the documents you will receive after installation, our team will gladly explain them before you sign the contract.
